F.A.Q
-
Why are we calling the event Techno Innovation and not simply Innovation Week?
We are deliberately targeting technologies and innovations to drive education and research. Many of the Innovations targeted are the ones making a big impact in the market such as; the Internet, ERPs Learning Systems, meeting Apps etc.
-
How is TIW different from the KeNIA Innovation Week or the Nairobi Innovation Week or other innovation exhibitions?
We have a tripartite approach;
a) Targeting Technological providers who are mainly focusing on education and research delivery. The outcome is to convince the companies that the technologies are important tools in academia and research and expanding them will translate to more business on their part e.g. making students realize what laptops can do for them in accessing education will automatically lead to more sales,
b) The academics and research institutions can use the opportunity to bring out the gaps in the technologies for bridging up. This will lead to tailored solutions for the institutions. Ultimately it will lead to more business for the companies providing the solutions e.g ERP providers,
c) The regulator comes in to provide policy direction so that there is coordination in the use of technology in academic and research delivery. The policy is expected to lead to greater R&D. -
What technologies is TIW focusing on?
The TIW focus is on the technologies that affect education and research delivery such as learning management systems, meeting Apps like Zoom, and ERPs among others. However, support such as financial complement the ease of delivering education. For example, financial institutions' ease of payment directly affects academia.
-
Who is the target audience?
The TIW focuses on getting audience from;
a) Technological companies providing solutions in teaching and research delivery,
b) Universities and University colleges so that they can get solutions enhancing teaching and research,
c) Research institutions to get technologies solutions for effective research environment,
d) Technology sub-vendors who supply technologies to teaching and research institutions. -
How about people who cannot afford TIW fees? Do they miss the exhibition?
a) University of student will not be charged because they are registered by being in the University. Walkin people wishing to attend exhibitions will register with KES.100,
b) Managers of academic and research institutions can afford the charged fees. It is basically to take care of their subsistence during their stay at the TIW exhibition. Besides they are encouraged to come and talk to providers of the technologies to agree on how best to reduce the cost of the essential technologies needed in academia and research. They need to convince companies to provide powerful but affordable laptops, smartphones e.t.c to students and researchers. Ultimately it will lead to more business for the companies,
c) The technology provider who picks the concept wins the day. Imagine an industry providing academic tools to all students in Kenya,
d) Funding institutions need to come up with innovative models to support students acquire gadgets for online learning, and
e) Insurance companies will need to insure all the gadgets and the gadget content. -
Does TIW provide for exhibition and oral presentation sessions?
Yes, it does. The exhibition and oral presentation session will involve the following;
a) Technology companies providing the best solution in the academic and research industries,
b) Policy and Regulatory agencies,
c) Data security managers to explain the security issues,
d) Academic and research institutions will indicate their expectations,
e) Oral presentation by exhibitor, and
f) Panel discussion issues in academic and research industries. -
